DAVU SERU: OF FRIENDS, FAMILY AND ELDERS

July 7, 2021 @ 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm

$10
Saturday Night Jazz at kj's hideaway

Improvising drummer Davu Seru has assembled a meeting of friends and elders including saxophonist and educator Donald Washington, multi-instrumentalist and AACM polymath Douglas R. Ewart, master percussionist Babatunde Lea and poet Tish Jones. Expect creative expression and communion from Elder representatives of the prismatic Black Arts Movement that grew out of the 1960s. They’ll be joined by what followed; born of Saint Paul’s Rondo neighborhood and Minneapolis’s Near Northside: Black, hip hop generation artists and educators. And there’s more to it. Always has been.
